Pompass is a manifestation of some professors’ ill will towards students. I began this project as a challenge to visually show a character’s personality as it is a chimera of different animals used to convey its attitude. I chose a group of animals that all have negative connotations. Its body is a hyena, a stereotype of a fat and lazy creature that has no respect for authority other than its own and cheats or lies. The back legs and face are a toad’s, a creature seen as demonic with many species actually being toxic. Pompass’s tail is a peacock’s fan, representing the power it has over its students but also how it is a pompous and rude animal. The various textures coating its body mimic bubbling acid, festering wounds, or sharp ice, alluding to its cold and toxic behavior. The classroom is blurred and hard to remember, because the entire semester was spent in a personal Hell focusing on the hatred of that one professor.
